Educational  Visits

Suzie, Howard, their family and staff would like to welcome you to Little Haven Farm. Insipred by a childhood love of farming, animals and agricuture teamed with a passion for education, Little Haven Farm's vision is to open our doors to the public, work hand in hand with local schools to allow young and old alike to learn about animals, farming and the relationship from field to plate in the most eco-friendly and 'hands on' way possible.

Suzie has recently aquired her Qualified teacher status as well as running and working at the farm, works part time teaching primary school children. She is passionate about education and has seen that some children do not have the same opportunities and access to outdoor learning as she would like. This inspired her to offer schools the option to come for part day or whole day visits to the farm whether they are visits to see the animals or days which link in to a particular topic or question led enquiry. The site has classroom/lunch room facilities and toilets and all members of staff hold full DBS certificates.

Virtual Visits

Without doubt, recent times have highlighted that use of technology can be a useful tool within our classrooms. Although, the farms main ethos is to get children to the farm to experience things 'hands on', we appreciate that this is not always possible. So,when you can't come to us, we can come to you! We can send tailor made videos using our private you tube account which can be viewed in your classroom or on your home learning platform. Video's will link into which ever theme you would like. We use a particular animal as a hook, and then ask the children to focus on a particular theme or lesson objective. You would like your class to look in depth at expanded noun phrases? No problem. Want them to investigate the best materials for building a home for our pigs? No problem. We create a video tailored to you and your classes needs. All videos are light, informative and fun and children have enjoyed watching them. Videos are recorded and then sent for your approval. Prices vary depending on what is required. Please conatct us for more information.

An example of a video can be found using this link. This video was designed for Year 2 children focussing on recounts during lockdown. This was posted on the schools home learning platform accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. This was also taught in class to Key worker children.
